I'm amusing myself with silly distractions. I have a 7 year old girl, so yeah, I get the occasional Barbie catalog in the mail. They are endlessly entertaining, but this one was just too good to keep to myself. The madcap creative souls at Mattel must have been feeling a rare literary impulse when they created this interpretation of Barbie Athena. Interesting Aegis shield, emblazoned with...of course...Barbie! Why she looks a bit like a Roman Centurion in drag I have NO idea.

Tina, it is a wacky sort of inspiration. Ant Jacqui, I'm sure you could write a good book with anything on the cover. Even Athena Barbie.
