I started thinking about how paintings and pictures of Jesus always say more about the society that produced the image than about the man himself. So, during a completely unproductive writing afternoon, I went in search of Jesus. Here's what I found.
Dan Fogleburg Jesus

"I am a living legacy to the leader of the band."
Bee Gees Jesus

"Whether you're a brother, or whether you're a mother, you're stayin' alive, stayin' alive..."
Odysseus Jesus

"Seriously, I think we're almost in Ithaca!"
Subcontractor Jesus

"I promise, I'll have the deck finished by Friday."
Notice anything odd about these men? They're all caucasian.
Not surprising, I guess, since the artists were probably Europeans. But really, people. Jesus was from Jerusalem. He was a Middle Easterner.
I'm guessing he would have looked more like this:

Like I said, I'm not a beleiver, and it's safe to say I stand a more than a decent chance of not making into heaven. But if Jesus does exist, I sure hope he can sing, because a Lenny Kravitz Jesus would totally rock.
